Watershed Discipleship Workshop

This summer has brought unprecedented attention to the lifesaving importance of fresh water. As we look toward a generation in which western Canada is predicted to transition from water abundance to water scarcity, there has never been a more important time to become friends, advocates—disciples—of our water sources.

“Calgary’s water crisis is a ‘wake-up call’ for every city in Canada, warn infrastructure experts”

In this half-day workshop, Robin Galey will invite a group exploration of  the meaning and purpose of water in our lives, both physically and spiritually, and teach a variety of practices to help us connect with water as a source of life and hope.

“In one drop of water are found the secrets of all the oceans.” - Kahlil Gibran

Workshop leader Robin Galey developed her relationship with the Bow and Elbow Rivers while supporting communications for Calgary’s Water Safety Partners in the early 2000s. She has since earned a permaculture design certificate and masters degrees in theology and divinity. Robin currently guides Wild Church gatherings in Calgary and area, works as student minister near the Sheep River in Diamond Valley, and supports communications at Hillhurst United Church beside the Bow River in Calgary.

This workshop combines content from the Watershed Discipleship Workshop developed by KAIROS Canada and Watershed Discipleship: Reinhabiting Bioregional Faith and Practice edited by Ched Myers with Robin's own theological research.

Coffee, tea, and a simple soup lunch will be provided, so please let us know if you have dietary restrictions.
