Further details re: July Retreat with John Phillip Newell

This retreat will take place at the Juniper Hotel in Banff. The retreat begins with dinner on Monday, July 27 and finishes late morning on Friday, July 31. To attend this retreat, you need both to register with the Wisdom Centre and to book accommodation with the Juniper Hotel. This retreat is designed as a residential retreat and use of the conference facilities at the Juniper is dependent on us filling the hotel with paying guests. As such, we are unable to accept registrations from participants who do not wish to stay at the Juniper Hotel with us.

After you have made your room reservation at the Juniper, please forward your reservation details to Beckie Grant, Wisdom Centre administrator at wisdomcentre@stlaurence.ca.

Accommodation at the Juniper
The Juniper has a variety of room types. You can find out more by looking at their website or phoning them. Please make your reservation by phone 1-866-551-2281 and quote group code WISD15. The nightly room rate is $229 plus tax ($256.02). This room rate is for single or double occupancy. There will be a $10/person charge for third and fourth occupants. As this is a hotel all rooms have private bathrooms, televisions, internet access, small fridges, hair dryers etc.

Because this retreat is taking place during high season in Banff, this is the best rate we could obtain. Obviously, the way to make this most affordable is to share a room.

Meals and Conference Fee
All participants will be asked to pay a conference fee to the hotel of $418.78/person including tax and gratuities. This fee includes:
• Monday dinner buffet
• Tuesday breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets plus two snacks
• Wednesday breakfast and lunch buffets plus two snacks. Wednesday evening is a free evening when participants will have dinner at their own expense at a restaurant of their choice in Banff.
• Thursday, breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets plus two snacks
• Friday breakfast buffet

The Juniper Hotel has one of the finest restaurants in Banff with hands down the best dining room views in town. All of the buffet meals will include vegetarian and gluten free options. If you have other dietary concerns please speak with hotel but with a group of this size we cannot guarantee they will be accommodated.

Your meal and conference fee and room charges will be paid directly to the Juniper upon check-out.

Transportation
The closest airport to Banff is YYC, the Calgary International Airport. It is approximately 1.5 hours from the Juniper. If you need transportation from the airport to the Juniper, we recommend using www.banffairporter.com which will take you from door to door. The Banff bus station is also a very short way from the Juniper if you wish to travel by bus. Please let Beckie, our Wisdom Centre administrator, know if you will be attending this conference without a car. Some of the hiking options in the afternoons will require us to drive to the trail head and, while we anticipate there being enough ‘locals’ with cars that everyone can be accommodated, we do not want to be surprised.

What should I pack?
Please pack what you would like to wear for walking or hiking as is your preference. Also, please know that the weather in the Rocky Mountains can be extremely variable, even in the summer. Please pack for wet and dry, warm and cold weather. It is impossible to predict what might come.

If you have further questions or concerns about this retreat, please phone The Rev. Anna Greenwood-Lee, Wisdom Centre co-director. 403-249-6184 x. 2 or rector@stlaurence.ca She is familiar both with the hotel and with Banff and should be able to help you.
