12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Event Type

The Wisdom Centre is pleased to invite you to participate with us in a new 10-week virtual book club series led by Don Mcleod, Director of the Wisdom Centre.

Join us for an energetic and engaging weekly discussion exploring themes from a powerful book by Valarie Kaur, “See No Stranger: A Memoir and Manifesto of Revolutionary Love”. The book study will include resources from the book and the Revolutionary Love Project, including short videos from Valarie herself.

This study is a simple online gathering on Wednesdays starting on March 16, 2022 for one hour per week (12 – 1 pm MST), and will be offered in two parts. There is no cost to join this session. Please register via Eventbrite to receive the Zoom information to join the book study (see link below).

Please note, while the book is readily available, you don’t have to read the book to join in on the discussion! Each week a brief synopsis on the material will be prepared, and then we will engage in large and small group discussions.

Event Schedule

Part One: March 16, 2022 to April 13, 2022 from 12 – 1 pm MST (Chapters 1 – 5)

Part Two: April 27, 2022 to May 25, 2022 from 12 – 1 pm MST (Chapters 6 – 10)

About the Book

SEE NO STRANGER is a practical guide to changing the world, a synthesis of wisdom, a chronicle of personal and communal history – all joined together by a story of awakening.

In this book, Valarie begins by asking provocative questions: “The future is dark. But is this the darkness of the tomb – or the darkness of the womb? How do we labor for the world we want when the labor feels endless?”

About the Author

Valarie Kaur – renowned Sikh activist, filmmaker, and civil rights lawyer – declares that revolutionary love is the call of our time, a radical, joyful practice that extends in three directions: to others, to our opponents, and to ourselves. It enjoins us to see no stranger but instead look at others and say: You are a part of me I do not yet know. Starting from that place of wonder, the world begins to change: It is a practice that can transform a relationship, a community, a culture, even a nation.
