Rabbi Howard Voss-Altman was born in New York City and raised in Englewood Cliffs, NJ, just a stone’s throw from Manhattan. He received his B.A. from Duke University and his law degree from Washington University in St. Louis. Rabbi Voss-Altman practised law in New Hampshire, New York City and St. Louis, Mostly in the areas of labour and employment discrimination.
In 1994, Rabbi Voss-Altman was accepted into HUC. He and his wife, Annie, lived in Jerusalem for one year and then in Cincinnati, Ohio for the remainder of rabbinical school. In addition to his rabbinical training, he has clinical pastoral experience and emergency chaplain experience, having completed his training at a large suburban hospital in Ohio. Rabbi Howard received his Masters in Hebrew Letters in 1998, and was ordained in 1999. He served as an assistant rabbi at North Shore Congregation Israel, on Chicago’s north shore, until July 2002 and has been serving as the rabbi of Temple B’nai Tikvah, Calgary’s Reform congregation since August 2002.
Rabbi Voss-Altman has been blessed by his wonderful wife and partner Annie for the last twenty years, and has three children, Emilie, age 15, Judah, age 11, and Adira, 9 years old.
